I have just returned from Paris where I was networking and researching the latest trends at one of France’s biggest food events; Le Salon Du Chocolat. With over 500 participants from over 60 countries it’s a chance for the leading names in the business to get together and showcase their very latest gastronomic delights. From new flavor combinations, to processes and packaging concepts, the ultimate goal is to bring chocolatiers, producers and consumers together to inspire consumer taste buds with some truly delicious creations.
I absolutely love the buzz of the fair. It’s the perfect place to rekindle relationships with those people that I’ve grown up with in the industry as well as making new contacts. It was great to see some of the leading lights of the industry there including international chocolate heavyweights Philippe Bernachon who was there with friends @arnaud_larher @vincent_guerlais and one of my heroes Cyril Lignac (@cyril_lignac)
One of the other reasons I’d headed to the Salon was to talk in depth with my Colombian Cocoa growers. I feel so passionate about this as it’s a key part of my supply chain. The chance to actively make a difference to people’s lives in a country that’s only generally associated with cocaine, is something on an ethical and social level that I’m totally committed to. Speaking to them really reminded me of why I’ve chosen the path I have.
My visit to Le Salon Du Chocolat came at just the right time in the year and reminded me of why I am doing what I am doing. The collective inspiration and energy I felt was just amazing. Seeing so many beautiful products and ingredients has once again tickled my creative juices and also reminded me that my Amelia Rope Chocolate creations can stand alongside the very best of them in terms of taste and quality.
