Katy Simpson from Noble Isle

I got to meet Katy at a business lunch a few years ago.  Her energy and drive for Noble Isle is inspirational.  I hope you enjoy our Q&A.

How did you conjure up your brand name?

Naming is the most emotive part of creating new brand or business. I was looking at many different directions and then one night, my sister (ex Marketing Director) and I went to the China Diner in Beaconsfield, and over a bottle of wine (or 2), paper, pencils and an iPad, came up with the name.

Noble Isle was the first term used for Great Britain in the 15th century by Kings and Queens and our Coat of Balms show the four flowers that represent the great countries within the British Isles.

Which of your bath gels sends you into a hedonist headiness and your customers too?

Fireside is our warmest and most sensual fragrance (Bergamot, Black Pepper, Pink Pepper, Cinnamon, Ginger) in our collection and loved by both men and women. It is wonderful at this time of year to warm up to morning or night. Fireside Bath & Shower Gel is wonderful in the shower but also makes a great bubble bath – light candles and pour a glass of red wine for a cosy night in.

Where is the furthest your goodies have travelled too?

Taiwan – we have just launched in a new territory – China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.

What drives you doing the challenging times?

Complete and unfaltering belief in the brand and the products

What's your first thought when you wake up in the morning?

I am hungry…

Do you listen to music when you work? If so ... who floats your boat and why?

It depends on what type of work I am doing. If I am reading emails and contracts no, but when I am doing creative work I love listening to music.  I love dance music being an ex-clubber, so house music or jungle for upbeat tunes. In contrast, the song I keep replaying at the moment is Wild Love by James Bay

If you were to take one of your range with you to a desert island what would it be?

Willow Song is my favourite range – Rose Petal, Ivy, Lily of the Valley and Cedarwood. It is green, fresh and tranquil and reminds me of spring, new beginnings and all the good things that come with a change to a warmer season.

A moment when you stood back and thought wow ....?

Every time I walk into Liberty and see Noble Isle on the shelves.

Gold or silver?

Both, gold in the summer on brown skin and silver in the winter….

White Lady or Black Russian?

Can I opt for a Gin and Tonic please?

Weak spot when it comes to food?

Bread and lashings of salted butter…

Who would you most like to meet and why?

My grandfathers - to hear about their history, their stories and fighting through the world wars. Fighting for our freedom as we know it today. My heroes.
